Odometer Reading: 97,200 MoT Expiry: 03/02/2021 *Low running costs *Plenty of history *Much recent mechanical work Rammed with character and eminently affordable to maintain, the MG Midget appeals to classic old hands as well as those coming into the movement for the first time, and appealing to all-comers has ensured the Midget's continued popularity. A long production run and owner loyalty have ensured many have survived, and this 1972 model is especially good, coming with a history file that comprises two folders of receipts and previous test certificates as well as correspondence from the first owner. While presenting well there is some bubbling on the bonnet's leading edge and on the top of the nearside sill but the paint is good and the chrome reasonable and the engine bay is well presented. The soft top is in good order. Midget interiors are pleasingly compact and this interior, in a mid-tan tone, is clean and tidy, the seats and door cards showing some wear. The steering wheel is in good condition. Mechanically much work has been carried out in the past two years, including a new fuel tank and pump, road springs and shock absorbers, tyres, SuperFlex bushes, propshaft UJs, a re-cored radiator (with electric fan), a new water pump and dynamo, replacing the engine mounts and rebuilding the carburetors. For better reliability contactless ignition has been added. In all, a rewarding example that could be improved for little further outlay.
