Beschreibung:

As redolent of La Dolce Vita Italy as the immortal Vespa scooter, the ‘beach car’ concept is most famously embodied by Ghia’s ‘Jolly’. A novel and quintessentially Italian idea, the Jolly transformed humble saloons such as FIAT’s 500 and 600 from basic transport into conspicuous indicators of wealth. The Jolly found favour as courtesy transport for patrons of luxury hotels and golf courses or for use ashore after one had docked one’s yacht on the Italian or French Riviera. Lacking doors and equipped with wickerwork seats, it was only practical as leisure transport, thus confirming its owner’s status as someone who could afford a car ‘just for fun’. Supplied new in Italy, this FIAT 500 Jolly was acquired by the vendor approximately five years ago and is offered fresh from a total restoration completed earlier this year; the chassis, engine, transmission, bodywork, interior and electrics all being fully refurbished. Finished in Giallo Positano (yellow) with Vimini (tan) interior, this delightful little car is said to drive ‘like new’ and is offered complete with tool kit, restoration invoices and instruction manual (on CD). Currently not registered for road use (the accompanying Italian registration document is 15 years old) it is nevertheless registered with Registro Storico FIAT and Carrozzeria Ghia Club Italia.
