Beschreibung:

The café racer’s favourite since its introduction, the Bonneville continued as Triumph’s top-of-the-range sportster after the model’s switch to unitary construction in October 1962, arriving at what aficionados consider its ultimate specification with the launch of the 1968 model. By this time the frame had been sorted and 12-volt electrics standardised, but welcome improvements included shuttle-valve fork internals, independently adjustable ignition points, Amal Concentric carburettors and a long overdue twin-leading-shoe front brake. For the next couple of seasons the Bonnie continued essentially unchanged, before the disastrous launch of the ‘oil-in-frame’ models in 1970 precipitated the collapse of the entire BSA-Triumph Group. This West Coast model ’68 Bonnie was imported from Redondo Beach, California, USA by former Atlantic rower, Geoffrey Allum and rebuilt by Kew-based Triumph specialist, Andrew Smith in late 1994. The machine was first registered in the UK on 18th November 1994 and acquired by the current owner on 10th May 1997, having recorded approximately 900 miles since completion. Apart from routine maintenance by recognised classic bike specialists (Andrew Smith and Reg Allen, of Acton), the only other work undertaken while in the current ownership has been the replacement of the seat cover and shock absorbers with new pattern components, and fitting Amal carburettors of the correct original specification. The motorcycle has covered only 2,150 dry miles since the 1994 rebuild and is presented in very good condition throughout. It is offered with owner’s manual, sundry invoices, current road fund licence, MoT to 12th June 2008, Swansea V5 registration document and a quantity of spare parts.
