1965 Sunbeam Tiger V8 260 Carte grise française Châssis n° B9470947LRXFE - Restauration de haut niveau - Plus de 60 000 € de factures - Rarissime, performances très élevées Sortie d'usine le 24 octobre 1964 en version conduite à gauche destinée au marché américain, cette Sunbeam Tiger a été importée en Europe et a fait en 2019 l'objet d'une restauration approfondie par BRT Development. Le moteur a été complètement refait avec notamment surfaçage des culasses, réfection de tous les périphériques, ajustage et mise au point. A cette occasion, diverses améliorations ont été apportées, comme un carburateur Holley 650 quatre corps, un arbre à cames et une distribution Comp Cams et un radiateur en aluminium. La transmission (boîte de vitesses, embrayage, pont arrière) a bénéficié de soins comparables (avec ajout d'une commande de boîte Hurst), de même que les freins et les trains roulants, complètement restaurés. Le système d'échappement a reçu des collecteurs tubulaires. La carrosserie a été entièrement décapée, ce qui a permis de refaire les éléments atteints de corrosion, comme les bas de caisse et la partie inférieure des ailes. Elle a été ensuite ajustée et repeinte d'une couleur gris métallisé qui se marie magnifiquement avec les jantes en magnésium type Minilite. L'intérieur a également bénéficié de soins attentifs, avec réfection de la sellerie et des instruments de bord. La capote en tissu a été refaite et les pneus sont proches du neuf. Les factures qui correspondent à l'ensemble de ces travaux totalisent près de 60 000 €. Elles sont bien sûr consultables, de même que les photos de la restauration. Mal connue, la Sunbeam Tiger présente l'avantage d'une ligne élégante combinée à un moteur puissant. Pour lui donner naissance, Carroll Shelby a appliqué la même recette qu'avec l'AC Cobra, avec l'aide de son ami Ken Miles, en plaçant dans la Sunbeam Alpine un V8 Ford de 260 ci (4,2 litres). Le rachat de Rootes (qui possédait Sunbeam) par Chrysler a sonné le glas du modèle, qui est donc également rare. Cet exemplaire en superbe état ne saurait échapper à l'œil du connaisseur.
