Post-war, under Communism, the Czechoslovakian motor cycle industry was nationalized, with the two major firms of Tovarna Jawa of Prague and Ceska Zbrojovka from Strakonice being gradually amalgamated over a number of years. In keeping with the philosophy of the then government, design was largely restricted to sustainable machines which were simple to maintain. This 175cc two-stroke ‘single’ is remarkable in retaining its original two-tone finish in very good condition, that original condition being the reason for its purchase by the Museum in 1993. In good mechanical condition as well and with some original paperwork the little CZ will respond well to re-commissioning for the road, ready for the increasing number of events for Iron-Curtain machines.
