The Austrian Lohner concern, always noted for the quality of its manufacture, had great success with its ‘Sissy’ semi-enclosed scooter though the earlier model’s lumpy ‘jolie laide’ looks were against it, as can be seen elsewhere in the sale. An extensive styling and a mechanical re-working was undertaken to produce the ‘Modell 61’. The tactic worked and sales were good, though the little scooter had little time to go before Lohner called it a day. This Sissy ‘Modell 61’ is in very good condition as befits one of the museum’s Austrian exhibits. Very original and complete it should need little more than the usual checks before taking its place in the vintage scooter scene.
