From its very inception the Rover marque had appealed to the professional man and the Coventry firm maintained that position in the marketplace, certainly through to the 1960’s. The Autocar magazine in 1957 described Rover’s products as "… in all probability about the best value for money going anywhere in the world today." and the range announced for the 1958 season was extended to include the top of the range 105R and 105S models, offered for that year with distinctive and fashionable two-tone colour schemes. The 105S was powered by the well tried 2.6 litre engine, as used in the ‘90’ model, but with compression ratio raised to 8.65:1 and twin SU carburettors. Standard equipment included a four-speed gearbox with automatic overdrive, bucket seats, twin fog lamps, cigar lighter and wheel trims. A healthy 108bhp gave the car almost sports car performance. This example is smartly presented in two-tone parchment/dark grey livery with brown leather interior. The coachwork was restored approximately four years ago and the car otherwise is to original factory specification in all major respects. Mechanical condition is described as sound throughout and this attractive 1950’s classic is offered with a Swansea V5 registration document, current road fund licence and MoT certificate valid to September 2004
