1957 AUSTIN-HEALEY 100/6 Registration No. FSK 110 Chassis No. BN4-L-O/50466 Engine No. 260/RU/H66615 (from a 1959 BN4) Red with red leather interior Engine: six cylinder, 2,639cc, 117bhp at 5,00rpm; Gearbox: four speed manual; Brakes: drums all round; Suspension: front, independent coil, rear, semi-elliptic. Left hand drive. In 1956 a six cylinder engine superceded the four with the car growing slightly in wheelbase and overall length. This was called the 100/6 BN4. After a year the 100/6 became the BN6 when it was fitted with a new type of six part cylinder head. This increased the break horse power from 102 to 117. The factory produced a kit to convert the earlier BN4 models to the BN6 specifications. The 100/6 was highly successful on the road and especially in a tuned state the new Healey proved very competitive in the international rally world. In Europe it obtained class wins in the Mille Miglia, Alpine Rally and the famous Liège-Rome-Liège rally. This original left hand drive example was purchased from the USA in the late 1980s and returned to the UK and has undergone a full professional body restoration during 1990/91. Invoices in excess of ¨15,000 accompany the vehicle along with a photographic record of this work which was highly comprehensive. Apart from the body and chassis work many new parts have been fitted such as the exhaust, steering wheel, tyres and upholstery. With tax and MoT it is ready to use and is an ideal fast tourer with two occasional seats. It is believed that this car raced at the Bridgehampton "Double 500" in July 1965 and still has the plaque on the dashboard. This theory is also supported by the fact that when purchased it was fitted with an unusual racing gear lever and also had competition racing leads. The rest of its history in the USA is unknown except that it is believed that since 1974 the Healey was stored. When found in the USA the car was a light shade of blue, however traces of red could be seen beneath and it is presumed it has now been returned to its original colour. It was also fitted with a hard top which is available with the vehicle. Since the restoration the vehicle has only covered in the region of 5,000 miles. The owner has kept a log of these journeys and any attention required. The engine fitted was not original to the vehicle, but is from a slightly later BN4 believed to date from 1959. On a recent test drive the vehicle performed faultlessly with no rattles. Whilst the engine and gearbox were not restored they both appear to be in good working order.
