By the ‘sixties, the ubiquitous autocycle had been around as long as most people could remember, the large-wheeled 98cc having been given the status of the only new civilian vehicle allowed during WW2. In 1956, the New Hudson startled the market by covering their long-running commuter in streamlined steel panels, a dowager in a mini-skirt. The idea, as on later Japanese lightweights, was to hide away the oily bits and to appeal more to non-motorcyclists. SWP 451 is a very rare survivor, being both completely original and in possession of all of its paneling and leg-shields. In un-corroded condition, though with dismantled paneling, it awaits careful attention. There are no documents.
