1952 New York Yankees World Championship Gorham Sterling Silver Presentation Box This Gorham sterling silver box was given to a lucky member of the 1952 World Champion New York Yankees organization. Embossed with the Yankees logo and wreath on the cover, the inside cover features 29 embossed facsimile signatures of the team and manager. The bottom is stamped "Gorham" and "Sterling." In 1952 the Dodgers and their "Bum" fans were tired of waiting until next year. The club was firing on all cylinders, winning the division by four and a half games over the Giants. In the World Series, the team had the Yankees just where they wanted them, up 3-2 with Game 6 at their home at Ebbets Field. But Mantle and Berra slugged homers and fastballer Vic Raschi kept the Dodger lineup in check save for Duke Snider's two clouts, and the Yankees eked out at 3-2 win. In Game 7, Mantle and Woodling took Joe Black deep and the Yanks' "Big Three" of starters Lopat, Raschi and Reynolds cobbled together an outing, helped by second baseman Billy Martin's game saving catch of a wayward pop up, to win their fourth straight championship, four games to two, equaling the mark of the 1936-1939 teams.
