During its hugely successful thirty four year production run, beginning in 1932, Norton’s ES2 upheld all the best Norton traditions and with the introduction of “Roadholder” front forks, handling was further enhanced to cope with the spritely 70+ mph performance of this popular model. Remarkably the model shared the same 79 x 100mm engine dimensions first used by James Lansdowne Norton as early as 1911 – obviously a winning formula. Perhaps the ES2 did not share the glamour of the Model 30’s and 40’s but it would be unfair to call it the ‘workhorse’ of Norton’s range as other contemporary post-war manufacturers would have proudly featured a bike half as good at the top end of their offerings. This example, traditionally finished in silver and black livery was the subject of restoration in 2001 including a major strip-down with worn parts replaced as required. The bike was re-liveried at that time and is smartly presented. It is offered with a Swansea registration document and road tax and MoT have only very recently expired.
