1941 Brooklyn Dodgers vs. New York Yankees World Series Display The 1941 "Subway Series" matched the New York Yankees against the Brooklyn Dodgers, with the Yankees winning in five games to capture their fifth title in six years. The series was punctuated by the Dodgers' Mickey Owen's dropped third strike of a sharply breaking curveball (a suspected spitball) pitched by Hugh Casey in the 9th inning of Game 4. The play led to a Yankees rally and brought them one win away from another championship. This series was the first time the Yankees and Dodgers ever met in what was to become one of the greatest rivalries in baseball history. The elements captured within this 39" by 51" framed display commemorating this Series include an original 1941 WS program signed by 27 members of the Brooklyn Dodgers, a full set of five original Series ticket stubs, vintage Dodgers felt pennant, a 1941 Dodgers yearbook, and vintage wire photos. A modern photo of the infamous dropped strike signed by Owen and Tom Henrich is also included. Creative composition and high quality framing. LOAs from PSA/DNA and JSA.
