1931 AUSTIN SEVEN 'BOX' SALOON Chassis No. 153319 Engine No. M154203 Car No. B56620 Black with white coachline and black vinyl interior Engine: four cylinder, side valve, 747cc; Gearbox: three speed manual; Suspension: front, transverse leaf spring, rear, quarter elliptic leaf springs; Brakes: four wheel drum. Right hand drive. This 'Seven' is a benchmark example of the 'Box' saloon of the 1930/1 period. The 'NG' pre-fix to its registration number denotes originally being put on the road under the jurisdiction of Norfolk County Council, though its subsequent history is not known or supported by any documentation. Without doubt the car has been in long term barn storage, and, while it may have been in fair condition when laid up, the less than ideal conditions of the barn have meant that today it is in need of total restoration. There is considerable surface corrosion to the bodywork and the chassis was noted to have some rot at the time of cataloguing.
