1925 FORD MODEL T DOCTORS COUPE Registration No. SV 5744 Chassis No. 11444798 Engine No. 11444798 Grey with grey cloth interior. Engine: four cylinder, cast iron, side valve, 2,890cc; Gearbox: planetary transmission, two speed forward, one reverse; Brakes: rear wheel drum; Suspension: semi-elliptic front, full elliptic rear. Left hand drive. After much experimenting which had taken the better part of two decades, the Model T finally arrived in October 1908, fulfilling exactly all the requirements that Henry Ford had been looking for. The 20hp side valve, four cylinder engine was easy to maintain and the 100" wheelbase chassis very simple. The cars had a dogged reliability that was to become their hallmark and this fast and economical car was to revolutionize the way of travel for many Americans. Mass production ensured that the Model T was always sold profitably and its on-the-road price was always very competitive. By 1922, production had passed the one million mark in annual sales and this would continue during the ensuing years. The model range in 1924 and 1925 was still considerable and a basic Roadster could be purchased for just $290 on the road. The Model T effectively sold itself and sales remained well over the million mark until 1926, with the last "Tin Lizzie" rolling off the production line in the summer of 1927. This is a 1925 two door Doctors Coupe which has been in its present ownership for four years having been purchased by the vendor in San Diego. The car was restored in America and the condition appears to be very good throughout. The paintwork is good and is complemented with new grey cloth interior upholstery. Mechanically, the car has been converted from magneto to coil ignition and we are told it runs very well. The vendor is a Model T collector with many years experience of owning and driving the model and this Doctors Coupe is only being offered for sale due to new storage requirements. The car has 21" artillery wheels with balloon tyres and correct 11" rear brakes. It is a left hand drive model and comes complete with an MoT certificate valid until November this year and a Swansea V5 registration document. An excellent opportunity to enjoy vintage Model T motoring for very modest cost.
