Beschreibung:

1902-11 W600 Sporting Life Honus Wagner (Uniform, Type 4 mount) (1909-11 T-206 Carl Horner Image) (PSA 5 EX "MK") Iconic image of Wagner as captured by noted photographer Carl Horner is one of the most recognizable early 20th Century athlete portraits ever taken. In addition to its use on the offered piece, it also appears on the most sought after and valuable tobacco card in the collecting genre - Honus Wagner's 1909-11 T206 tobacco card. This highly desirable series of baseball cabinet cards was issued from 1902 to 1911 by the National Sporting Life Company. The set consists of more than 650 cards, with the precise total remaining unknown given they were both sold and issued as a redemption. Large format (5.25"x7.5") olive green mount is host to a crisp likeness of Wagner and bold "Sporting Life" advertising captioning along the lower edge. Condition can hardly be improved upon with the slightest touch of wear to corners which is slightly more pronounced when viewing the reverse. A period fountain pen notation dated 1906 appears on the back, likely placed there when the piece was received by its original owner. One of less than (10) examples which have been authenticated by PSA and with only one graded higher: PSA 5 EX "MK"
