Crossed arrows and patriotic shield surmounted with crossed German silver arrows and with arrows in left talon and olive twigs in right talon. Two Indian scout's buttons on each side of a black leather band encompassing base of hat. Scarlet and white intertwined three strand cords encompass the helmet, fastened to two medallions. Scarlet and white officer's helmet cords with disk aiguilettes with acorn tassels. Complete with oak leaf plume holder with scarlet and white dyed horsehair plume. Inside of helmet with leather sweat band, with a brass plume marked Raymolds & Whitlock. Overall height 11.5". [See Langellier, 1999: 80-81] Condition: Original cords with no unraveling. Body of hat in mint condition. Original planchet and plume socket.
