1889 WORLD SERIES PROGRAM In 1889 the New York National League Team played the Brooklyn Baseball Club of the American Association in the World Series. This is a score card/program for the second game of the series won by pitcher "Cannonball" Ed Crane (four wins in the series.) The Giants, behind three games to one, rallied and won the series six to three. The New York lineup included six Hall of Famers - Ewing, Ward, Connor, O'Rourke, Welch and Keefe. The Brooklyn team included Robert Carruthers who won 40 games that season. The scorebook features photographs and biographies of the Brooklyn players as well as the season schedule. The printed lineup tipped in scorecard for the World Series is scored and dated October 15, 1889 in pencil. In very good to excellent condition with some staining and chipping on the cover. This series predates both the modern World Series and the Temple Cup.
