Crossed swords and patriotic shield with German silver 6 surmounted on shield with arrows in left talon and olive twig in right talon. Two cavalry buttons on each side of a black leather band encompassing base of hat. Gold bullion intertwined cords encompassing helmet, attached to patriotic shields. One patriotic shield to the rear of dome (for hanging chin chain). Complete with orange dyed horsehair plume. Inside of helmet with leather sweat band with cotton liner with silver painted coat of arms stamped Henderson Ames Co. Overall height 11.5". Condition: Lacking chin chain and shoulder cords. This is a 1872 Pattern altered to an 1881 Pattern. Body is excellent. Inside sweatband is severed in a few regions.
