Original green calf embossed, by La Fabrique de Fenoux, Paris. 69 pages - 67 with cut-out illustrations, plates from books, etc. The collection was added to by Eliza and other members of the O'Connell family. A remarkable and intimate relic of 'The Liberator'. Amongst the prints in the album are Clemens August, Archbishop of Cologne, 1838; BL Dumartie, member of the Belgian Chamber of Deputies, the O'Connell silhouette published by J Bell of Belfast, Sloperton Cottage, home of his friend the poet Thomas Moore views of Bowood (where the Marquis of Lansdowne entertained the likes of Tallyrand, O'Connell's friend the poet Thomas Moore Lord Macauley and Jeremy Bentham), Derrynane Abbey, Views of Welsh castles, etc. One page headed 'Hints to Travellers' has four prints of hotels with O'Connell's recommendations, including Hotel de Hollande - à Mayence, 'most excellent & comfortable'; Hotel de L'Empereur Romain a Francfort, 'Extreme inattention & discomfort'; Hotel du Rhin à Cologne; 'Pretty good, but the best is La grand Rheinburg'; Hotel Tréves a Coblentz, 'Very good.'
