John Steinbeck (1902-1968) Three First Edition Works.Of Mice and Men, New York: Covici & Friede, 1937, first edition second issue with no blue dyed top edge and the bottom of page 9 reading "loosely" rather than "pendula," bound in beige cloth, original dust jacket with $2.00 price on front flap, bookplate on ffep, (tear along front joint of dust jacket, other chipping and tears along dust jacket spine),7 3/4 x 5 in.; The Moon Is Down, New York: The Viking Press, 1942, first edition, lacking first issue points with no period between "talk" and "this" on page 112 and referencing the Haddon Craftsmen on the copyright page, bound in blue cloth with sliver lettering on spine, in original dust jacket with $2.00 price on front flap and advertisement "The Men in the Service Need Books" on back, (chipping to jacket at head of spine and corners, some wear along joints and fore edges),7 1/2 x 5 1/4 in.; The Pearl, New York: The Viking Press, 1947, first edition with "published by the Viking Press in December of 1947" on copyright page, bound in red cloth, in a first state dust jacket with Steinbeck looking towards the spine, (chipping and wear along top edge of jacket, some fading to spine, foxing on rear of jacket),8 1/4 x 5 1/2 in.
