Gerry Williams (1926-2014) Studio Pottery Vase and Dish, New Hampshire, c. 1975, oval bowl with gray interior, exterior with impressed geometric patterns glazed dark brown, incised bird mark, ht. 2, wd. 9 3/4, dp. 7 1/2, hexagonal waisted vase, exterior with impressed decoration in green glaze, unmarked, ht. 11 3/4 in. Note: Williams was a nationally and internationally recognized master craftsman, teacher, lecturer, and author. He was the founder of The Studio Potter, a nonprofit membership organization, and editor of The Studio Potter Magazine, a journal about the aesthetics, technology, and history of pottery and about the personal lives of ceramic artists. On February 19, 1998, he was appointed as New Hampshire's first Artist Laureate by Governor Jeanne Shaheen. (New Hampshire State Council on the Arts)
