Approx. 133 issues and 20 duplicates including: 1952-1975, Vol. 1, nos. 1-4; vol. 2, nos. 1-4, vol. 3, nos. 1-4, vol. 4, nos. 1-4; vol. 5, nos. 1-4; vol. 6, nos. 1-4; Aperture Index Volumes 1 through 6 1952-1958; vol. 7, nos. 1-4; vol. 8, nos. 1-4; vol. 9, nos. 1-4; vol. 10, nos. 1-4; Special Supplement Vol II, 1963; vol. 11, nos. 1-4; vol. 12, nos. 1, 3-4; vol. 13, 1-4; vol. 14, nos. 1-4; vol. 15, nos. 1-4; vol. 16, nos. 1-4; Vol. 17, nos. 1-4; vol. 18, nos. 1, 3-4; vol. 19, nos. 1, 4; and then 1976-2005, numbers 77-94, 96-104, 106, 110, 112-116, 118-125, 129, 130, 130-134, 137-141, 143, 144, 149, 167, 166-169, 174-178. Provenance: Deaccessioned from the John Teti Rare Photography Book Collection, New Hampshire Institute of Art. N.B. Similar to the seminal publication Camera Work by Alfred Stieglitz that preceded it, Aperture's mission is to explore photography and promote it as a fine art. This pursuit was laid out in the inaugural 1952 issue, stating "Aperture is intended to be a mature journal in which photographers can talk straight to each other, discuss the problems that face photography as profession and art, share their experiences, comment on what goes on, descry the new potentials. We, who have founded the journal, invite others to use Aperture as a common ground for the advancement of photography." The lot on offer includes a nearly continuous run of the first one hundred issues. Duplicate issues include 13:2, 13:3 (3 copies total),14:1, 14:2, 15:2, 15:4, 16:1, 16:2, 16:3, 16:4, 17:2, 17:3&4; and numbers 80, 99, 113; Edward Weston monograph reprint of issue 12:1; Paul Caponigro monograph reprint of issue 13:1; Be-ing Without Clothes reprint of issue 15:3; Octave of Prayer reprint of issue 17:1.
