Attributed to Jeanne Axtell Walker Johnson (American, 1905-1998) Baronial-style Dining Room Suite, United States, 1931, hand-carved wood, includes table, sideboard and eight chairs, carved name of the maker and date on inside of sideboard center door, chairs ht. 55, wd. 23, dp. 21, table ht. 31, wd. 84, dp. 48, sideboard ht. 46, wd. 60, dp. 20 in. Provenance: The extraordinary Jeanne Axtell Walker Johnson of Fort Worth, Texas was born Oct. 23, 1905 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was a multi-talented philanthropic member of the Fort Worth social and cultural scene. A fine artisan, concert pianist and composer, she was one of three women to found the Fort Worth Opera in 1946, the oldest continually performing opera company in Texas. She was a supporter of the Fort Worth Theater Guild and Musician's Union. She died March 1, 1998. The set has passed through the family to the consignor.
