Maud Leach (1870-1927) Leach Art Studios Greetings From Colorado Postcard, early 20th century, hand-drawn postcard, unfolded ht. 6 3/4, wd. 4 3/4 in. Note: Leach graduated from the Silver Lake Art School in Perry, New York in 1891. She moved to Denver at the turn of the century to study under Alexis Comparet and Henry Reed. While teaching art privately and at the public school in Littleton, kept studios in Littleton and Manitou Springs, Colorado. In 1911, she had a one-woman show at Daniels and Fisher Dry Goods in Denver. In keeping with the taste of the time for Japanese-inspired art., Leach also made hand-painted woodblocks as well as greeting cards.
