He graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in architectural engineering and in 1954 founded Craft Associates. Known for his daring, yet affordable designs, Pearsall is credited with creating the low gondola sofas, free form walnut and glass coffee tables, and popularizing the bean bag chair.
