Signorum et statuarum symbola Perreriana. 100 plates of classical statues then surviving in Rome, with a portrait of the dedicatee, Christian Eberhard of Ostfriesland. PERRIER, François and Petrus SCHENCK. Signorum et statuarum symbola Perreriana; eleganti coelo denuo exsculpta, & novo nitore edita à Petro Schenck. Amsterdam, Petrus Schenck, 1702. Folio. With a large woodcut ornament on the title-page; a full-page mezzotint portrait (27.5 x 17.5 cm) by Schenck of the dedicatee Christian Eberhard FUrst of Ostfriesland, a full-page engraved illustrated dedication plate by Schenck (illustrations after François Perrier with the Ostfriesland coat of arms, sculptures, father time, etc.; 100 numbered engraved sculpture plates by Schenck after François Perrier (98 full-page and 2 double-page). 6 pp. plus plates. Contemporary gold-tooled vellum, sewn on 4 vellum tapes laced through the joints, each board with a centrepiece, double fillets forming an inner panel and outer frame, 4 corner pieces in the inner panel, double fillets on the smooth spine (traces of a lost spine label), red sprinkled edges. With owner's name M. Terwiel on an endleaf. In good condition, with tears expertly and unobtrusively repaired in 3 plates (49-50, 88). Binding with light stains. An attractive presentation of 100 statues or groups of statues from classical antiquity.
