1/2 Daler Silvermynt 1728, Avesta, SM 280, 10.5 x. 9,5 cm, ex. “Schimmelmann”-auction, lot 1171 This Swedish plate money originates from the wreck of the Danish East Indiaman, “Grev Ernst Schimmelmann”. Making her way south of Africa bound for East India the ship sank off the coast of Cap Verde on the 24th of April 1781. The recovered coins were all professionally conserved and documented prior to an auction taking place at the Danish Maritime Museum in 2004.
